These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of poofPDF (the "Service"), operated by [Your Company / Entity Name] ("we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

poofPDF analyzes PDF documents for accessibility issues (WCAG 2.0 / PDF/UA) and offers tools to remediate them. Browser-based analysis and remediation happen locally in your browser; your file is not transmitted to our servers for those features.

2. AI-assisted feature

poofPDF offers an AI-assisted feature for interpreting figures and images the browser-based analysis cannot fully evaluate on its own. Using this feature sends the specific image you select — not your whole document — to a third-party AI provider for interpretation. That image is processed for the purpose of generating a response and is not knowingly retained by us beyond the request.

You are responsible for determining whether it's appropriate to use this feature on any particular document. Do not use the AI-assisted feature on content containing protected health information (PHI), personally identifiable information (PII) you are not authorized to share externally, or other regulated or confidential data, unless you have confirmed with your own organization's policies (and, where applicable, an appropriate agreement with our AI provider) that doing so is permitted. The core Service does not require this consideration, as it never transmits your file anywhere.

3. Automated results, not professional advice

The Service's checks are automated and heuristic. They are provided to help you identify and fix likely accessibility issues faster, but they:

Some documents may retain automated-validator failures after remediation, particularly where the source contains malformed or incomplete font-to-Unicode data, interactive form fields or annotations, complex table structures, or ambiguous legacy/vector content. The Service may leave such content unchanged when an automated correction could alter meaning, appearance, reading order, or operation.

Automated conformance results and practical assistive-technology usability are related but are not interchangeable. You are responsible for testing important documents with appropriate validators, keyboard navigation, screen readers, and qualified reviewers. Please report any practical accessibility barrier you encounter so we can investigate it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to process content you don't have the right to process, to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service beyond what applicable law permits, or to use the Service in a way that could harm, disable, or overburden it.

5. "As is" / best-efforts basis

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make reasonable, good-faith efforts to provide accurate detection and reliable exports, but we do not guarantee the Service is error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular regulatory or compliance purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

7. Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may update the Service or these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes (for example, introducing additional server-side processing), we'll update this page and, where the change is significant, make reasonable efforts to give notice before it takes effect.
